NOTRE DAME DE PARIS has been very popular all over the world for last 4 years. The first night took place in 1998 in Paris. Presently, “Notre Dame” is translated into many languages, but the same team of authors, producers, and choreographs of the original version makes those performances in all countries.

In 2000 the English version was released in London, then in 2001 Spanish version was shown, then in 2002 first nights of Italian and Russian versions took places.

The productions of the musicale are characterized by ultra-modern scene decision, which demonstrates the contemporary tendency of European arts.

Authors of the “Notre Dame de Paris” are Luc Plamondon (he wrote original lyrics) and Richard Cocciante (who created the music). Luc Plamondon is very famous in Canada and in France as the author of Celine Dion’s songs and as the author of libretto for another popular musicale called “Starmania”. Richard Cocciante is incredibly popular as a composer and as a singer, which performs his own songs in 4 languages.

It was Luc Plamondon’s idea of creating the musicale. In 1993 he started to look for the plot in French literature for the new musical performance and he made his choice for “Notre Dame de Paris” by V. Hugo (“Why can’t it be NDdP?” – he said to Richard Cocciante). While rereading the book, Plamondon made sketches for 30 songs. Then, Richard Cocciante joined him.

“It’s possible to say that the musicale has begun with the “Belle” song”. Exactly this single took first place in all European charts long before the first night of the entire musicale! And for the first time in history, tickets for an unreleased performance were bought a half-a-year before it.

“Notre Dame de Paris” was put into the Guinness Book of Records as the best-seller musicale for the 1st year of existence. In francophone countries 3 million tickets have been sold, and in the world more than 7 million of CDs have been purchased!

The musicale still goes on subduing the world!
